Beauty Beneath the Mask
Social distancing is something most of us have come to accept in order to provide for our own safety as well as that of others during these unique times. While many of us have found ways to adjust our routines as we deal with an unprecedented public health crisis, life is definitely far from comfortable. Social distancing may be known literally for the physical behavioral adjustments, but it is the hidden, psychological changes that affect us most. 6-feet of distance isn’t much out in public, but days or weeks since you’ve been close to friends and loved ones can be unbearable. Breathing through a mask and fidgeting with it all day can be frustrating, but trying to understand another masked person behind a shielded counter in a grocery store can be downright irritating!
It definitely says something about the importance of the face in self-expression when you go about a day and see how different your interactions are simply because of a facial covering. At F.A.C.E. of Beverly Hills, our patients have definitely witnessed this reality and we have consequently seen an increase in the number of requests for facial procedures. This is especially true for procedures focused on the part of the face we see beneath the mask; the eyes. In this article, we will discuss some of our most popular eye procedures that will be noticeable to others even when wearing a mask.
Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is an antiaging cosmetic procedure meant to correct droopy, sagging eyelids. Upper and lower blepharoplasties are used to treat the upper and lower eyelids respectively. The purpose of blepharoplasty is to removes puffiness and bags under and around the eyes. While this procedure cannot alter dark circles, fine lines or wrinkles around the eyes, a blepharoplasty procedure may be combined with other procedures offered in our clinic to treat these issues. Blepharoplasty may be performed in-office under local anesthesia.
Lipo Transfers & Fillers
If you’re looking for a nonsurgical, minimally invasive procedure, or simply want to boost your results from a surgical procedure like a blepharoplasty, fillers offered by McCoy Moretz, MD may be the right choice for you! In some cases, there are natural options available for treating your cosmetic needs, like using transplanted fat from your own body. In other cases, fillers such as Botox, Juvéderm, and those containing hyaluronic acid (HA filler) may be preferred.
Everyone knows about the highly popular Botox, which is available for a number of facial procedures including those around the eyes. HA filler is another popular option. It is so effective, HA filler can even be used for nonsurgical rhinoplasties. While popular for treating the lips, Juvéderm Volbella is an HA filler that is also highly effective for treating crow’s feet and hollows under the eyes.
PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, is another regenerative option available in our Beverly Hills clinic for eye procedures. PRP is made using your own blood plasma that is separated in a centrifuge during your visit. PRP may be used for a number of stand-alone cosmetic eye procedures, such as treating under the hollows, or it may be used as a regenerative medicine in combination with a number of other procedures. PRP is also strong in growth factors, meaning it may boost the recovery time following your procedure.
