Beverly Hills Lip Suspension
The lips are an obvious focal point of the face, showing others a lot about ourselves, or telling us a lot about others. You can even tell if a person is attracted to you, or trying to mirror your behavior, by them looking at your lips.
Looking to feel more confident when you crack your next smile? Dr. McCoy Moretz and the team at F.A.C.E. of Beverly Hills offer lip suspension to patients visiting our Beverly Hills facial plastic and cosmetic surgery office. To learn more about this procedure, read on!
What Is a Lip Suspension?
A lip suspension, or lip lift, is a procedure aimed at giving the lips a more defined and youthful appearance.
During a lip suspension, an incision is made on the inside of the nose, hiding the entry point. A suture is passed from the inside of the nose to the upper lip. Suture tension when tying is adjusted to achieve the desired lip height and outward roll. The procedure is then repeated on the other side to achieve the desired symmetry and elevation. The nasal incisions are then sutured, but the ones in the lip won’t need to be. No sutures are visible following the procedure.
Lip suspension surgery on its own typically only takes 30 minutes to perform. You can drive yourself home following the procedure.
The most common reported side effect is swelling which is typically at its maximum the day following surgery. There is also some pain and discomfort the first couple days following surgery, but these side effects are alleviated with medications prescribed by your doctor.

The first days of surgery, rest and minimizing excessive oral movements is of paramount importance. It is important to maintain an antibiotic ointment cover for several days. Dimpling of the skin in one or more suture sites is also normal and will subside within 3-12 weeks. You can return to your normal, everyday schedule within 7-10 days.
A lip suspension, or lip lift, can restore a youthful appearance to the lips, raising your confidence when going about your day. Lip suspensions are typically a permanent solution, meaning you don’t have to repeat procedures to maintain the same result.
