Exosomes and PRP for Face and Neck
Regenerative medicine, as discussed in our FAQ blog, is one of the most exciting revolutions in cosmetic surgery now available to patients by request at F.A.C.E. of Beverly Hills. While many patients are aware of our regenerative procedures involving umbilical cord allograft-derived cells for hair therapy and pain management, some may not be aware of the applications for exosomes to many procedures offered by McCoy Moretz, MD.
Exosomes, available in combination with other regenerative options like platelet-rich plasma (PRP), may offer many benefits to patients seeking cosmetic improvement. To learn more about the benefits of exosomes in resolving your cosmetic needs, read on!
What Are Exosomes?
Exosomes are present in the majority of the eukaryotic cells, or those with a defined nucleus, present in the human body. Exosomes are comprised of proteins, lipids, and mRNA. Exosomes are often considered messengers, as they are used to communicate with local cells via paracrine or local signaling and they can nourish surrounding cells. This gives them both immunomodulatory (immune system-benefiting) and regenerative properties. Exosomes are derived from MSCs, or mesenchymal stem cells, those found in the umbilical cord allograft-derived cells used in many common regenerative procedures offered by our clinic.
How Are Exosomes Used?
Exosomes can be used in many ways to complement procedures offered by F.A.C.E. of Beverly Hills for the face and neck area by Dr. McCoy Moretz. Exosomes can be combined with platelet-rich plasma (PRP), a solution derived from your own blood containing growth factors, or umbilical cord allograft regenerative medicine for maximum effectiveness. In the case of combination with the latter, the exosomes may be used for reduction of inflammation (immune response) while the umbilical cord allograft cells aid the exosomes for regenerative purposes. Furthermore, the communicative properties of exosomes may facilitate a faster recovery from many procedures offered in our clinic.
Common conditions treated with exosomes include wrinkled or aged skin, rosacea, and acne. Exosomes can also be combined with procedures aimed at treating other conditions, such as erectile dysfunction (ED), hair loss, osteoarthritis, and sports injuries.
Side Effects and Downtime
Generally speaking, side effects from regenerative therapies are appreciated for being minimal to nonexistent. While any procedure involving injections carries the risk of infection or other potential issues, regenerative medicine is considered a natural approach that your body is not able to reject when administered by a professional doctor under ordinary circumstances. Therefore, most patients report either minimal or no side effects. Additionally, regenerative medicine is often used for nonsurgical procedures, meaning you may be able to return to work or go about your day following a procedure as short as one hour with no downtime.

While regenerative therapies show much potential in their ability to treat a variety of conditions with a great deal of success, every patient responds differently to regenerative medicine. What patients tend to appreciate the most is the opportunity to approach many cosmetic improvements often less-invasively than other options available in plastic surgery today. Improvements include a healthier, more youthful looking face and neckline, minimal or no downtime and side effects, and benefits often come at a better price point than those involving potentially risky surgeries.
Only a doctor can help you decide if regenerative therapies, including those involving exosomes and PRP, are right for you. We are also happy to discuss our other regenerative options, such as those involving umbilical cord allograft-derived cells.
